5/7/2023 0 Comments Acronis cyber backup server![]() ![]() ![]() What I've learned since then is Acronis software really sucks at recovering individual files/folders sometimes, specifically it seems when recovering anything tied to appdataĪttempting to recover my appdata folder from pre-11 into a folder on my current windows install will result in Acronis saying "Recovery has completed with errors. I knew Acronis software had the ability to recover individual files/folders so I felt like I could use it to as a backup for reinstalling my OS (got some new SSDs and wanted to change my drives around along with other stuff) A secure cloud backup solution for all your devices: computers, servers, NAS. I used it to make backups of my PC (at the time running Win10 and will be referred to as pre-11) Your domain with an optimised web hosting solution for WordPress, Joomla. So for context, I'm using Acronis True Image for Western Digital as I get a license for it with some of my WD drives also with possible other backup solutions) I'm hooping for some insights/tips on ways to incrementally back up my iMac to the Synology, while also replicating the backed up data to the iDrive cloud. I was initially also looking at Carbon Copy Cloner, but learned that such a recovery would only work when backing-up to a USB/Thunderbolt drive. The main reason for choosing Acronis is, that it will enable me to create backups to my Synology NAS from which I can do a bare metal recovery. I do not see a way to select a different backup file format and believe that this strategy might not work. ![]() I've chosen this strategy based on my previous experience, when the incremental backups were stored in separate auxiliary files. This basically means that my iDrive app, which runs on a daily basis, will back up the large 1Tb every day, which was not what I've expected. I understand now that the current backup file format basically puts the full and incremental backups in one file. I've checked the backup files on the NAS and noticed one file, which has the. The Acronis software has made a first full image backup to the NAS, followed by a first incremental backup. I'm moving away from the Acronis cloud backup to back up my iMac and installed a Synology NAS, which uses the iDrive app to back up my NAS data to the iDrive cloud. ![]()
